The Los Angeles Police Department has identified 15 women from photographs they seized last July from the property of the alleged Grim Sleeper serial-killing suspect Lonnie David Franklin Jr., the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Investigators were contacted by family and friends of the 15 women, who confirmed they were "alive and well," according to the L.A. Times.

On Thursday, the LAPD released photographs of 160 unidentified women who may have been victims of the Grim Sleeper.

Franklin is believed to have committed at least 10 murders in South Los Angeles since 1985. He has pleaded not guilty to the killings.

The LA Weekly gave the suspected serial killer his moniker because of the long stretches between murders. However, officials have said they believe the Grim Sleeper may be responsible for more murders.
