Singing sensation Aretha Franklin is recovering well after undergoing surgery on Thursday.

Franklin, 68, underwent the procedure at early Thursday morning at a hospital in Detroit.

It was not revealed why the singer needed surgery.

In a statement to the public, Franklin said, “The surgery was highly successful. God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you all for your prayers!”

In November, her publicist announced that she had canceled all her performances and personal appearances through May. News of the surgery came a month after the announcement.

Another celebrity also paid a visit to the hospital.

Heather Locklear, 49, was hospitalized Wednesday morning with a bacterial infection and is being treated with antibiotics.

Her rep said she is recovering and “doing fine”. She was released from the hospital late Wednesday.

Locklear recently returned from filming “He Loves Me,” a Lifetime TV movie in Canada.

TMZ was the first to break the news.

After winning this season’s Dancing With the Stars, Jennifer Grey revealed that she is getting surgery for an injury she received while on the show.

“I ruptured a disc, and I’m gonna go home today and I’m probably gonna have surgery this week or sometime next week,” Grey told Access Hollywood.

“It’s just gonna be like a little surgery where they take out the ruptured disc thing, and you know, it won’t be a big deal,” she said.

Grey said, “Compared to the other surgeries I had on my neck, my doctor says it won’t be a big deal. I’ll be home that night.”

The actress said that the adrenaline of the show helped ease the pain.

“I gotta tell you, the win and the experience of doing – more the experience of doing 'Dancing With the Stars' – already, like I don’t even remember the pain I was in a week ago,” she said.

“I just have some discomfort in back that needs to be taken care of. OK, a little more than discomfort,” she exclaimed.

TV show host Nate Berkus is back home and recovering after being rushed to the hospital Tuesday with an appendicitis.

Physicians anticipate a quick recovery for Berkus who underwent an appendectomy.

Berkus appeared on the Today show. Feeling ill, “he powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis,” his rep said.

His handlers were aware he wasn’t feeling well, but Berkus insisted on making the appearance.

Two tapings of the Nate Berkus Show were postponed, however, Sony Pictures Television said that Berkus is expected to be back at work next week.
