California's Death Row Piling Up With Inmates

Twenty-eight people received death sentences in California during 2010, bringing the total number of people on death row to 717.

Yet, no one was executed in the state because of legal challenges and lethal chemical shortages, reports the L.A. Times.

Californians widely support paying three times as much to have people face death sentences as opposed to less severe sentences.

California executed 13 people between 1976 and 2006, but has not held an execution since.
