Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971 to protest the Vietnam War, was among 131 anti-war protestors arrested outside the White House on Thursday.

The protest was in response to President Obama's declaration earlier on Thursday that the U.S. is "on track" in Afghanistan.

While the War in Afghanistan was one major focus of the rally, another was the controversy surrounding WikiLeaks, Julian Assange and Bradley Manning. The group rallied in support of Assange, the WikiLeaks founder who was released from jail Thursday after bail was posted.

"Before the mass arrest, speakers at the rally, which was attended by at least 500 people, attacked the war and defended WikiLeaks and Bradley Manning, the army officer suspected of leaking secret State Department cables to the website.

Earlier on Thursday, Ellsberg told a Washington news conference that Manning and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange "were no more deserving of prosecution than the New York Times, which published the Pentagon Papers in 1971, or Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward, who helped uncover the Watergate conspiracy."

According to Ellsberg, this was the 80th time he's been arrested for civil disobedience.
