Looking For The Perfect Winter Coat?
Wrong. It’s mid-November in LA and it should be time to start thinking about winter coats, or at least booking that New Year’s ski trip to so you can rationalize your purchases of this season’s most opulent outerwear.
Below are some of the best trends we will be seeing this winter.
Fur coats are the ultimate in ski bunny or rocker chic, and this season you won’t have to worry about the hefty price tags or backlash from PETA as there are an abundance of faux fur styles.
If you want to buy designer but can't justify the price tag, the upcoming Lanvin for H&M Collection is the perfect answer, with a chic faux-fur coat at a steal for $200. Urban Outfitters has a great selection of faux fur looks at a lower price point as well.
Alice + Olivia and Burning Torch Isle of Sky have edgy long vests this season. Faux fur jackets are also making an appearance in all colors and prints from zebra to Sonia by Sonia Rykiel’s printed leopard coat.
The White Trench
If you want to standout this season, dare to wear a snow colored white trench.
Alexander McQueen's more formal version looks fancy enough to be worn alone for the ultimate fashion statement.
Military uniforms have been the basis of many trends recently, the muted color palate hugely popular throughout summer with the urban safari chic look.
This season, the military style detailing has manifested itself through sleek lines of trenches with bold metal buttons. ALICE by Temperley’s Riley coat has a Mandarin neckline and bold metallic closures across the chest for an unmistakable military look.
Reminicent of some the strong high fashion military inspiration are Forever 21's Boucle Military Coat and the Double Breasted Crest Button Coat both available for under $50. More subtle military detailing is shown in coats by Juicy Couture, Tibi, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Plaid may just be Scotland’s sexiest export. Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B has led the forefront of the plaid trend by including the fabric in collections throughout the years continuing on this year with a black and white plaid shawl coat.
Switch it up this season and rock a cape over leggings or skinny jeans.
Capes are perfect for a chilly night when you just need something to cover your shoulders or to complement your most festive holiday outfit. ALICE by Temperley has a striking black cape with studded detailing while Emilio Pucci has a more subdued gray cashmere and wool cape.
