Plouffe To Replace Axelrod As White House Adviser

David Plouffe will likely take over David Axelrod's position as President Obama's chief political adviser when Axelrod leaves the White House early next year.

Axerlod announced on Fox News Sunday that he will be heading to Chicago to work on Obama's 2012 presidential campaign.

Plouffe served as Obama's campaign manager in 2008 and, for the last two years, has run AKPD, the political consulting group that Axelrod founded.

Obama is also looking for a replacement for economic adviser Lawrence Summers and is waiting to see if Jacob Lew, his choice to head the Office of Management and Budget, will be confirmed.
