Prominent liberal commentator Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely from MSNBC after the network discovered he had made campaign contributions to three Democratic candidates.

Filings with the FEC revealed Olbermann donated the maximum $2,400 apiece to Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway, and Arizona Representatives Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords.

NBC News requires its employees to inform executives and get approval before they can donate to political campaigns.

In a statement released by MSNBC on Friday, Phil Griffin said: "“I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."

It's unclear how long Olbermann will be suspended, or what this means for his future at the cable news channel.

the suspension of Keith Olbermann, and the reson stated by the msnbc reports, lacks merit and on it's face
appears most suspicious and heavy handed. He is not a "news" journalist and has not indicated that
countdown is a "news" program. If rating mean anything I am sorry "Big"ED, Rachel and Lawrance.
