“The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart mocked the media’s coverage of a supposed missile launched off the coast of California on his show Wednesday night.

The media created a slew of conspiracy theories after the government wouldn’t explain what the vapor trail was.

“I can’t believe that cutting through our national security bureaucracy to find out about something that may not actually have happened takes longer than an hour long cable news shift,” Jon Stewart sarcastically said.

Stewart showed numerous clips of cable media stations drawing unknown conclusions from the video anywhere from a launch off a submarine to a meteorite, or “maybe even a US Intercontinental ballistic missile?” Stewart put in his own speculation with the possibility of “A giant sky-c**k?”

Stewart jokingly said the timing of the missile must have meant that “action hero” Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger strapped himself to a missile to catch up to another slower missile just a mere two weeks before his retirement.

“Maybe this missile thing isn’t actually a missile?” said Stewart. After hearing that the KCBS cameraman shot the “missile” for ten minutes, Stewart concluded that it must be in Hawaii by now.

Aerospace experts have confirmed that the vapor was indeed from a plane.
