Germany Still Confident In Obama's Leadership

The shift in power in the U.S. House of Representatives will not dissuade President Obama's strong leadership abilities, Germany's foreign minister said Wednesday.

"America is a strong country; the American president is a very strong and decisive president," German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told ZDF television.

Though, with the Republican majority in the House, Obama may have a tough time passing legislation, affecting Obama's nuclear disarmament plan, said Westerwelle, who appealed to new members of Congress to support the bid for nuclear disarmament.

Spanish Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez also shares some of Westerwelle's views, believing Obama's power will outweigh his party's losses.
