James Franco and Anne Hathaway will serve as co-hosts of the 83rd Academy Awards, Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today. Both have previously appeared on the telecast not in hosting capacities.

"James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons-fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27," said Cohen and Mischer. "We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that."

Franco, who currently can be seen in "127 Hours," will be making his second appearance on an Oscar telecast. His other film credits include "Eat, Love, Pray," "Date Night," "Milk" and "Pineapple Express." Franco is also known for his portrayals of Harry Osborn in the "Spider-Man" trilogy.

Hathaway will be making her fifth appearance on an Academy Awards telecast. She was recently seen in "Love and Other Drugs." Hathaway's other film credits include "Bridge Wars," "Becoming Jane," "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Princess Diaries." She was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for her lead performance in "Rachel Getting Married."

The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Celebrities remember the valued life of Leslie Nielsen, the famed Canadian-American actor, who died of pneumonia in a Fort Lauderdale hospital on Sunday.

Notorious rapper Nicki Minaj tweeted, "R.I.P. Leslie Nilsen ~ one of the funniest and amazing actors of all time."

Fellow comedian Russell Brand remembered the late funnyman with a pun using the actor's iconic line from his 1980 disaster spoof "Airplane!" tweeting, "RIP. Leslie Nielsen. Shirley, he will be missed."

"Sad to hear about Leslie Nielsen passing," "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest said on his Twitter account.

Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" is out and the new cast of MTV's hit reality show "The Jersey Shore," Justin Bieber, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the newest American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, and comeback queen Betty White are among her favorites.

"We have quite an eclectic list this year, but every subject has truly fascinated and entertained us this year." Barbara Walters said.

Future British Princess Kate Middleton, Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock and NBA star LeBron James also made the list this year.

The No. 1 most-fascinating person will be announced on the ABC special, which airs Thursday, Dec. 9 at 10 p.m. ET.

In the 18th season of the special, Walters gets up close and personal with Betty White, the 88-year-old actress who has gained newfound cult icon status. The comedienne talks about her successful year and her sex life. When asked by Walters if "at 88 and three quarters... does one still have sex?" White exclaims, "If one gets lucky!"

Walters also sits down with Sarah Palin, who is the only person to make the list three consecutive years in a row. In the interview, Palin addresses rumors of marital problems, telling Walters, "There's a lot of BS out there."

For World AIDS Day on Wednesday, stars such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, and Lady Gaga will be saying goodbye to their Twitters.

A bevy of stars will be putting their virtual lives on hiatus, abstaining from social media until one million dollars is raised for the Keep a Child Alive charity to buy back their lives.

The organization, co-founded by Alicia Keys, provides treatment and support for families affected by AIDS in Africa and the developing world.

The project, which Keys says is "a direct and instantly emotional way to get people to pay attention," is inarguably a worthy cause.
