The ever-chic Carey Mulligan will be debuting as Daisy Buchanan in ‘The Great Gatsby.’  Mulligan received the news from director Baz Luhrmann while at the CFDA Awards.  She promptly burst into tears when Luhrmann answered her call, “Hello, Daisy Buchanan.”  Mulligan was allegedly chosen over Blake Lively and Amanda Seyfried who were also competing for the coveted role.  Mulligan will star across from Leonardo DiCaprio (Jay Gatsby) and Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway). The role cements Mulligan's star status as she becomes the new British darling of Hollywood, having been seen most recently in Fox Searchlight's "Never Let Me Go" and starring alongside Ryan Gosling in the upcoming "Drive." iTunes has confirmed that it is finally getting on board with Beatlemania.  Talks amongst Apple executives and Beatles representatives and the record label EMI Group Ltd. have been garnering interest in the last week and and the two parties have finally ended a decades-long feud. Since 1978, these two powerhouses have been dueling over trademark infringements and computer synthesizers.  But, long last, the two have decided to kiss and make up, and each score some publicity in the process.  (Source: NeonTommy.com)

Billy Reid was crowned this year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner.  The menswear designer won the $300,000 award last night at Skylight SoHo, as well as a trophy of a bronze swan by New York artist Rachel Feinstein.  Reid championed over runners-up Eddie Borgo and Prabal Gurung who each took home $100,000.  Karl Lagerfeld was the keynote speaker at the dinner gala where Reid became the seventh winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which aims to cultivate up and coming designers through the use of a cash prize and mentorship program.   The fashion world will now wait to see if Reid’s success will rival past winners such as Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler.  (Source: WWD)

NBC Universal’s Jeff Gaspin has announced that he will be parting ways with the company he has been with for almost twenty years.  The television chairman’s goodbye has been anticipated in light of the merger with Comcast Corp.  Comcast’s Steve Burke will soon be the new chief executive of NBC Universal.  Gaspin told his staff that Burke’s proposed management changes will not leave a suitable position for Gaspin: “As is his prerogative, Steve has determined that he wants to move in a different direction and given the scope of my current responsibilities, we could not agree on an appropriate role for me in the new company.”  Gaspin is the second senior NBC executive to announce his resignation due to the Comcast merger (NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker was the first).  (Source: LA Times)

Apparently the third time’s a charm. Speidi seem to agree. The notoriously attention-starved duo of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt married for a third time this weekend in Carpinteria.  The two previously wed in Mexico and in Hollywood.  According to ET, the wedding was donated to them, which is convenient seeing as though the couple recently claimed to be broke.  Montag rejoiced, “Now I feel like I can finally just be Heidi and just be in a marriage and just be a person.”  Maybe now they will quiet down, but let’s not get our hopes up.  (Source: USA Today)
