Three Republican candidates have spent more than $243 million during this election cycle.

Meg Whitman has of course spent the most money, using $163 million - $141.6 million of that out of pocket - in her race for California governor against Democrat Jerry Brown.

Coming in behind her is Florida's Republican candidate for governor, Rick Scott, who has contributed $60 million of his personal and family fortune to his campaign.

Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment from Connecticut, has spent $41.5 million in her bid to succed retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd.

With a little more than a week to go before the election, let's see how much more they can spend. The question is: Will their millions pay off?
