USC cornerback Shareece Wright thought he had nothing but real estate in front of him when he scooped up a fumble with 44 seconds left in the first half of Saturday's game against Stanford.

Boy was he wrong.

Just as Wright was about to break a big run, Stanford's Andrew Luck came out of nowhere and delivered one of the most vicious hits you'll see from a quarterback. He didn't just tackle Wright. He lit him up like a movie set.

Video below.

The buzz in the press box afterward was terrific. Stanford writers, USC writers, everybody was giddy. Nobody had seen a quarterback tackle like that. And we probably won't see one tackle like that again for a while.

Larry Brown Sports called Luck's tackle the "hit of the year."

I'm inclined to agree.
