Tea Party's Rand Paul Set For Victory In Kentucky Senator's Race
The Republicans cannot capture a majority in the U.S. Senate without a victory from Paul over state attorney general Conway.
Paul's campaign has been barraged in recent days by stories of the Kentucky Stomper, who has been identified as Tim Profitt, a former Paul volunteer. Profitt stepped on a member of the liberal group MoveOn.org outside a televised debate in Lexington, Ky.
“At this point, the investigation is still ongoing,” reported Sherelle Roberts, public information officer, to ABC News. “We’re looking into other individuals who may have been involved in the assault and could get charged.”
Footage of the incident shows that a number of men pulled MoveOn volunteer Lauren Valle to the ground, as one man held her there while Profitt stepped on her head, pressing it into the ground.
Police have thus far settled on no official conclusion, however multiple blogs have suggested the man that held Valle down is Mike Pezzano.
Paul’s campaign has gained nearly $2,000 from Profitt and he plans to keep the money after a sudden flip-flop in his decision. However, he forced the Kentucky Stomper out of his campaign after the incident, and Profitt will no longer remain the Bourbon County coordinator.
The tiff, Conway believes will be “a potential game-changer” in the election.
