Feasting on exquisite French food and sipping Bordeaux at a charming brasserie on the Champs-Élysées is a dream, but where do go if you’re currently living in Los Angeles? To satisfy your hunger for a taste of Paris, local chef and restaurateur David Myers delivers results at CommeCa, located in West Hollywood.

This dazzling restaurant serves traditional French favorites like cassoulet, cote de boeuf and moules frites amongst other fine choices. From the outside, CommeCa displays a simplistic exterior. Yet, the inside is where you feel you have stepped into a modern French brasserie in Paris. The interior looks best at night when the restaurant is lit by flaming candles and buzzing with life. The walls are black and the shelves are filled with antique mirrors, old books, sunflowers and chalkboards displaying the plats du jour.

CommeCa offers patrons a bar program called “18a,” creatively named after the 18th Amendment. Cocktails are crafted from scratch with small-batch distillery spirits that represent the speakeasy spirit. The wine list offers fantastic varieties from all over France and California. If unsure on pairing, make sure to ask sommelier Rory Harrington for advice—his knowledge and friendliness are extremely helpful.

Another great addition to the menu is the extensive cheese bar that includes selections from across the globe.

After your meal, make sure to leave room for dessert. The French are best known for their pastries, and it is easy to see why at CommeCa. Rather than trying the obvious crepes and apple tarte tatin (which will not disappoint), indulge in the chocolate-whiskey soufflé. The warm cake melts in your mouth and is perfectly accompanied with a vanilla caramel sauce.

CommeCa, located at 8479 Melrose Ave., is open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner. On the weekends, the restaurant offers brunch during the day and dinner at night.
