Study: Having Gene, Friends May Turn Adults Into Liberals
Adults who have a specific gene and could name off having more friends in high schools than others are more likely to become liberals as adults, researchers at Harvard and the University of California, San Diego say.
The study recently published in the The Journal of Politics says those who carry a variant of the DRD4 gene have a good chance of becoming liberal in their political views, especially if they had large number of friendships during high school. The data comes from an analysis of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health.
UCSD's James Fowler and his fellow researchers claim this is the first time an individual's politics has been associated with a gene.
