California voters oppose Proposition 19
by 49 percent to 44 percent, according to a poll released this week by the Public Policy Institute of California.
A month ago, a PPI poll found Prop 19 was actually favored by 52 percent of likely voters. Latinos and Southern Californians accounted for much of the increasing disfavor with the effort to legalize marijuana and defy the Obama administration.
Proposition 23, an effort to delay climate change laws, also appears set for defeat.
Prop. 24, which would overturn corporate tax breaks, is not polling favorably
. Prop. 25, however, which would allow the Legislature to pass California's budget with a simple majority vote, is supported by nearly a majority of likely voters. The public's view on Prop 25 barely changed compared to the September poll.
