People Watching At L.A.'s Rally To Restore Sanity

The Rally To Restore Sanity in MacArthur Park was like a more social version of watching your favorite TV show on a couch with a group of friends, or a more relaxing, less tacky version of a concert in the park. One of the best things about big, outdoor events is the people watching.

People showed off their witty signs, and some used the event to advertise for their juice company, their book, and their political campaign, among other causes.

All of the curmudgeons questioning the rally's political effectiveness should remember that there's nothing wrong with fun for the sake of fun. This event was free, making it a great alternative to other, less social free events, such as watching TV alone on your couch in your underwear.

It also offered an alternative to more social events that aren't free, such as sitting in a restaurant. At the very least, it brought people with similar senses of humor together for a relaxing afternoon. What's so wrong with that?

Check out the slideshow of the people at the rally, and make it full screen to read captions about some of the subjects.
