California’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman rallied about 300 supporters at the Orange County Fairgrounds Saturday as Election Day draws near.

With three days until the Nov. 2 election, Whitman trails Democratic Candidate Jerry Brown in the polls by four percent according to the Rasmussen Report, a number within the poll’s four percent margin for error.

The stop at the Orange County Fairground was one of the last few she will make on the campaign trail as she attempts to drum up support to clear the minor lead Brown has. Supporters at the rally were hopeful that Whitman would come out on top in the close race.

“I think God was watching out for us!” said Lucy Dunn, president of the Orange County Business Council, to a cheering crowd. “Don’t you think God’s watching out for Meg?”

A large number of the rally-goers were senior citizens and retirees who say they remember Brown’s previous stint as Governor from 1974 to 1982 and don’t want to see him in office again.  Some of the rally’s attendees expressed their lingering distrust of Brown.

“Brown paid no attention to education when he was governor,” said Joe Kung.  Kung said one of the reasons he immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan 45 years ago was to get the best education for his children.

Aside from Education, another topic brought up by Whitman was the importance of creating new jobs. Once again Whitman touted her experience at eBay, saying that what she learned there taught her the necessary skills to manage California’s budget and create jobs.  Brown’s only idea is new taxes, said Whitman as she quoted former governor Gray Davis.

Whitman acknowledged that the election was close and ended by reminding her supporters that they had the power to make a change for the state.

“We have an opportunity to show that the Golden State is the comeback state,” Whitman said at the close of her rally.
