On Saturday afternoon in Diesel, A Bookstore, a quaint little bookshop tucked in Brentwood, Katherine Schwarzenegger stood (in staggering heels, no less), bright-eyed and bubbly, ready to sign copies of her new book, “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty."

Her latest literary endeavor is like an ode to help promote a healthy body image amongst girls who live in a world where the media encourages them to be wafer thin. She filled this book to the brim with stories about her own past battling with these issues.

“I wanted to write a book because I think it’s the best way to get the message out for young girls,” Katherine said. “It talks about a serious issue in a funny, humorous and light way.”

Her book signing felt more like a Schwarzenegger family reunion, if anything, with a majority of the crowd exchanging hugs and kisses and catching up with one another’s family stories. Her father, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger stopped by the store, equipped with several bodyguards to lend his support, and her mother, award-winning journalist and author Maria Shriver, made a brief appearance as well.

Perhaps the most noticeable characteristic about Katherine is her incredible poise when it comes to handling the attention she receives-a skill she has probably perfected over the years with both parents in the limelight. She made sure to interact with everyone that approached her even stopping to give compliments along the way.

When a member of her book publicity team kept pressuring her to come inside the store to start signing, she jokingly dismisses him and said, “Can’t this wait? I’m in the middle of an interview!”

While Katherine grew up in the shadow of her famous parents, all eyes were on her this time around, as she spoke about the issues in her book, an area that anyone could tell she has a deep rooted passion for. Mom and dad simply stood and watched her from the sidelines beaming with pride.

Yet despite her impressive lineage, Katherine remains to be, surprisingly, one of the most down-to-earth 20-year old girls around. She is currently a junior majoring in Communication at the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

When asked about how she balances schoolwork with her burgeoning career and media attention, Katherine coyly answers that she completes her homework with whatever little time she can find-even if this means taking the time to study while she’s waiting for work to start.

So what's next for the busy junior? She's not even sure. But amid this uncertainty, one thing is certain: her future is burning brighter than ever.
