Demi Lovato and Taio Cruz announced the 2010 American Music Awards nominations Tuesday morning at the JW Marriott in Los Angles at L.A. Live. Perez Hilton has described the nominations as “total pop music domination.”

Eminem and Lady Antebellum are leading the pack this year, and have each racked up five nominations. Eminem’s nominations include favorite album for “Recovery” and favorite male artist.

Lady Antebellum is nominated for favorite band in both the Country and Pop categories, and favorite album for “Need You Now.” Justin Bieber comes second in the pack with four nominations, and B.o.B., Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry have tied for three nominations.

The nominees are chosen from Big Champagne’s Ultimate Chart. The chart rates the most popular recording artists and their music based on a combination of music sales, exposure on radio and TV, internet video streaming, etc.

Recording artists in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Soundtracks, and Contemporary Inspirational will be honored. ABC will broadcast the 38th live show on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010.

So far, the confirmed performers for the show are P!nk, Bon Jovi, and Usher. The nominees for the coveted 2010 Artist of the Year award are Eminem, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga. Winners will be determined by voting online at www.amavote.com and www.ama.abc.com. (Source: PR Newswire and HollywoodReporter.com)

As the race for governor between Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman continues, campaign funds are still a necessity, and the best place to find endorsements and donations are among the Hollywood elite, who tend to support liberal candidates.

Democratic candidate Jerry Brown will be hosting an invite only “Hollywood Soiree” in West Hollywood on Thursday night. The glamorous party will take place at the members-only Soho House and tickets are running for $5,000 a person.

The main event chairs for the party are Steven Spielberg and wife, Kate Capshaw, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and wife, Marilyn Katzenberg, and David Geffen. The event chairs have thrown political parities in the past; in 2007, they hosted a party for Barack Obama. There are over ten co-chairs for the event, who include George Lucas, J.J. Abrams, and Warren Beatty, and they each paid $25,000 for the party.

Other famous attendees who are sponsors of Jerry Brown and donated $10,000 include Tom Hanks, Judd Apatow, and Norman Lear. It is estimated that Brown will raise at least $700,000 from the Hollywood party, which will help in the race against Meg Whitman who is better funded. Brown has been the most supported candidate among donors in the entertainment world. He has already raised $418,855 from people in the TV, movie production and distribution business, according to the National Institute on Money in State Politics.

Interestingly, Disney has supported both candidates with donations of $9,200 to Meg Whitman and $25,000 to Jerry Brown as a co-chair for Thursday’s event. (Source: HollywoodReporter.com)

The most unexpected news this week was the announcement that two very private Hollywood couples are separating. Courteney Cox and David Arquette announced Monday that after 11 years of marriage, they are going through a “trial separation.” Cox and Arquette released a statement that claimed, “The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage.” The couple has a daughter, Coco, who was born in 2004 after Cox experienced several miscarriages. Cox and Arquette met in 1996 on the set of “Scream,” and married three years later in San Francisco, CA.

Additionally, Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman confirmed Tuesday that they are separated, but have not drawn up divorce proceedings. Bratman was a music executive and met Aguilera in 2002. They married in 2005 in Napa Valley, CA. Aguilera and Bratman’s son Max is only two years old, but they are committed to raising him together. Aguilera stated, “Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.” These separations are quite unexpected considering the privacy the two couples have maintained, and hopefully, the couples can resolve their problems. It has been two years since Kings of Leon have released an album, and their newest album “Come Around Sundown” releases on Tuesday, Oct. 19. However, the band is streaming the entire album for fans to check out on their Web site. Fans already know the popular single “Radioactive,” but don’t forget to check out the singles “No Money” and “Birthday.” The band’s site also includes a 10-part interview about their newest album.
