Culture Collide Festival (Roselle Chen)

The warm night and laid-back atmosphere fit right in to the outdoor venue at Echo Park.

The four-day festival, from Oct. 7 – 10, encompassed solid acts throughout. A $20 wristband let fans into The Echo, The Standard, Echoplex, Spaceland and an outdoor block party in Echo Park where bands such as Black Lips, Caribou and Klaxons played.

The block party on Sunday was free with RSVP.

“We felt it was about time L.A. had its own international festival,” said Alan Miller, co-owner of FILTER Magazine. The bands were from The Netherlands, Iceland, Spain, Israel, U.K., and more.

Tokyo Police Club was the standout band Sunday night. The band, from Newmarket, Ontario, welcomed all the Angelenos and said they had a very good time at a friend’s wedding in Los Angeles.

“You guys know how to party,” said lead singer Dave Monks, who got the crowd dancing with nine songs in his set list.
