Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York is sending his resources westward in his continued effort to support the re-election of prominent Democrats across the country.

Schumer, who has already spent $4 million in support of the Democratic Party this election cycle, sent $500,000 to Nevada recently to help Sen. Harry Reid in his tight race against Sharron Angle, who is backed by the Tea Party.

Reid's loss, however, could be Schumer's gain.

The senator from New York may take over Reid's position as Senate Majority Leader if he loses Tuesday's election, though Schumer has made it clear that he would rather Reid return.
