Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman released new television ads Wednesday, though Whitman continued to refuse Brown's latest push that she stop airing negative ads.

NBC's Matt Lauer challenged the candidates at a conference on Tuesday to stop airing negative ads for the final week of the campaign, but Brown said he would only do so if Whitman did. She never fully accepted the idea. On Wednesday, Brown said Whitman and independent groups supporting her should drop negative ads. Brown, who's being saying he can make the tough choices that await him in office, is refusing to take the leap by himself.

Brown's new ad includes only clips from the conference on women's issues in Long Beach. One of the clips is of the crowd booing Whitman for not accepting the challenge. Whitman's new ad is actually a positive one featuring the same lines she's been using throughout the campaign season.

Whitman told Fox News on Wednesday that she's been called a Nazi and whore by Brown's campaign, so she's not the only one attacking.

"Voters need to know that his record as governor was not good, his record as mayor of Oakland was worse," she said. "We have got to have a debate on the real issues. There is a difference in personal, character attacks which I have not done, which he has done."

The Republican plans to cast her ballot early by mailing it on Thursday morning, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Suprisingly, there will be no photo-ops of the candidate who has been criticized for poor history of voting finally casting a ballot. Whitman spent Wednesday driving her campaign bus around Southern California, from San Diego up to Riverside. She even found time to buy a surf board that she's wagering on the World Series against Texas Gov. Rick Perry. The bet was his idea; he'll give up a pair of cowboy boots if the San Francisco Giants defeat the Texas Rangers in a best-of-seven series.

Since business seems to be on Whitman's mind around-the-clock, according to a profile by the L.A. Times, it's unclear how much she actually understand sports. She's just the latest politican to jump on the baseball bandwagon.

Brown is up by seven points on Whitman in a CNN poll released Wednesday--a number consistent with most polls in the past two weeks. The poll was conducted between Oct. 20 and Oct. 26.

"Geographically, Brown has the same strengths and weaknesses as Boxer - a strong showing in L.A. and the Bay Area, and a deficit in Southern California and the Central Valley," says the CNN pollster. "And despite the fact that Brown is running against a woman, he appears to be doing slightly better among female voters than Boxer, with a 14-point margin in that key group."

Whitman has released 11 new attack ads in the last 15 days, according to Brown's campaign. They also claim Whitman's television attack ads have aired 80,000 times since the June primary.

Gotten to know Jerry Brown Yet? Just the facts! Jerry Brown middle fingers the will of the people with his decision to run for a third term of CA governor. The people voted in term limits to prevent any jaded, beholden, professional politician from further destructive power to its state and its citizenry. The taxpayers don't want public officials retiring with unfunded, high-pensioned, retirement packages. Taxpayers do not want to foot the huge costs for illegal, non-residents for their health, welfare and education. Taxpayers do not want soft-on-crime politicos who can't protect the safety of citizens from criminals. In short, taxpayers don't need a third Brown term. Surely he is exactly the politician that term limits were meant to preclude from running over and over again. How qualified was he to even become AG of CA? During his final Gov. debate, where Brown was asked about the "Wh*re" word utterances, he answered awkwardly, and defensively. He would then make a statement about which any first year law student would cringe - 'I'm not sure the recording was legal, as you have to have permission … ' This, from a sitting state attorney general, brings into question his competence, as the circumstances of the recording are known. Incompetent? Or maybe just getting senile? Either way, CA doesn't need ex-govenor Moonbeam stretching the term limits to suit only himself, when so very much is at stake for the taxpayers and citizens of CA. In this same recording, Brown stated how he planned to run for governor - that he would use the “wh*re” word against his female opponent. Dirty trick from a dirty politician. Brown has also been content with the blame for the "wh*re" word going to his wife. Something this amoral, misogynist, has not denied. Dirty ads? How about Brown DIRTY TRICKS? A Moonbeam redux would mean an untrustworthy Brown with a filthy- mouthed First Lady representing the citizenry of California. Term limits were voted in for a very good reason. They were meant to apply to the likes of Moonbeam and his ilk.

Brown has waged a down and dirty negative campaign from the get go -- if the voters can't see through Jerry's BS and elect Meg Whitman then there is no hope for this state.
