Sen. Barbara Boxer and her Republican opponent, Carly Fiorina,  hit the Sunday morning political talk show circuit in an effort to appeal to Hispanic voters. The candidates appeared on Spanish-language channel Univision’s “Al Punto."

Boxer defended her socially liberal positions on the program, saying that her views on abortion will not hurt her with socially conservative Latino voters because she is "100% respectful of of people's views. I don't think the government should tell other people what to do," she said.

The three-term Senator also pointed towards her endorsement by LA Opinion as evidence of this. La Opinion is the largest Spanish-language newspaer in the US.

The latest Los Angeles Times/USC poll, released Sunday, shows Boxer is doing well among Latinov voters, polling 60 percent compared to Fiorina's 28 percent. Overall, the poll shows Boxer eight points ahead of Fiornia.

This was Fiorina’s second big television appearance this weekend; Fiorina appeared on conservative commentator Sean Hannity’s FOX News Channel program on Friday night.

Fiorina said that President Obama’s visit to California last week is proof that Boxer is in serious trouble in her re-election bid.

Another recent poll conducted by Rasumussen Reports shows the Fiorina is well within striking distance; in that poll, Boxer maintans a slim two point lead.
