The California Senate race might be closer than it seems: According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, Boxer is ahead of Fiorina 49 to 45 percent. A Rasmussen Report poll gives Boxer a 49 to 46 percent lead. Fiorina, it seems, is not going to go down without a fight.

In the next week, a number of high profile politicians will be in the area to spur on the Boxer and Fiorina campaigns. Obama will be in Los Angeles on Oct. 22 to campaign for Boxer, and Sarah Palin will try to boost Fiorina at an event in Anaheim.  (Fiorina has chosen not to attend.) Michelle Obama will also be campaigning for Boxer, and rumor has it Al Gore will make it to the west coast soon.

Boxer is also speaking in Los Angeles today to discuss her stance on women’s issues.
