Seven and a half miles of Los Angeles streets will be converted into a park Sunday, closing the streets off to vehicles. Bicyclists and walkers will take over from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the city's first CicLAvia, a name derived from the Spanish word for bike path, ciclovias.

Cities around the world have already started their own version of ciclovias. Bogota, Columbia began shutting streets down to vehicles every Sunday 30 years ago. Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle have all held major bike events.

Check back later for Neon Tommy's coverage of the event.
