Apple is expected to show off new versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro as well as the next version of its Macintosh operating system at an event scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Though there's some disagreement among bloggers who closely follow Apple news, it appears the company will release two sizes of the revamped MacBook Air. There's disagreement about what kind of hard drive it will have and how powerful it will be. There's some belief that Apple will offer the laptops at a lower price than ever before.

The other part of the press conference should focus on Mac OS X Lion. One of the few features known to be included in the operating system update is a scrollbar that disappears when not in us, offering up more real estate on screens for content.

With the school shopping season giving way to the holiday shopping season, Apple will probably also release slightly-upgraded versions of their MacBook Pro line of laptops and iWork/iLife software.

Apple announced Monday its first quarter with more than $20 billion in revenues. Still, the company's stocks fell as iPad sales underwhelmed analysts.

While the market share of MacBooks has increased to nearly 11 percent, the laptops only account for a quarter of the company's revenues. Just two years ago, before iPad and iPhone sales took off, MacBooks brought in half of Apple's revenue.

ArsTechnica and CNet will be some of the websites live-blogging the event, which begins at 10 a.m. PDT Wednesday.
