Sarah Palin Launches Tea Party Express Tour In Nevada
Two years after her famed vice-presidential bid, Sarah Palin is still making news -- this time by headlining the Tea Party Express’ latest national bus tour.
The “Tea Party Express: Liberty At The Ballot Box” tour kicked off Monday with a rally in Reno, Nevada.
And the big names keep on coming, with the tour scoring former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for a speech in San Diego Thursday.
The independent, Sacramento-based organization has funded two tours in the past -- one last fall and one in March -- in its bid to help the Tea Party sweep the midterm elections on Nov. 2.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will have to watch out. The Tea Party Express is lobbying for Sharron Angle in her race against Reid in Nevada, even though she will not be in attendance to due to a law that prevents federal candidates from teaming up with independent expenditure groups.
The Tea Party has successfully helped install other Senate candidates like Mike Lee in Utah, Joe Miller in Alaska and Christine O’Donnell in Delaware. Earlier this year, the group also helped Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown defeat Martha Coakley for Ted Kennedy’s seat in Massachusetts.
The tour will end in New Hampshire on Nov. 1, one day before the midterm elections.
