Joe Torre will leave the Dodgers at the end of the season, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Two sources with knowledge of the situation told the Times that Torre will leave at the end of the 2010 seaon and hitting coach Don Mattingly will take over managerial duties.

An official report is expected before Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Torre joined the Dodgers in 2008 after managing the Yankees for 12 seasons. Mattingly, Torre's longtime understudy, followed him and became the Dodgers' hitting coach.

As a four-time World Series winning manager, Dodgers fans had high expectations for Torre when he joined the team. So far his stay in Los Angeles has been marred by disappointment though. The Dodgers have lost in consecutive seasons to the Phillies in the National League Championship Series.

Torre is 251-220 as manager of the Dodgers.

The team is 72-75 this season. If they finish the year under .500 it will Torre's first losing campaign since 1995, when he managed the Cardinals.
