With a title like “Mac Fights Gay Marriage,” you know it’s gonna be good.

The season 6 premiere of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" dropped us in with the Gang right where we left off—Mac is still a douchebag, Dennis is still conceited, and we still can’t decide if we find Sweet Dee attractive.

The episode was very solid and featured the reappearance of Mac’s Tranny (from “Mac Is A Serial Killer”), a plot move that almost guaranteed laughs. Mac greets her with a “Sweet cameltoe!” and is soon saddened to discover that his past fling is now married. His jealousy, inevitably, leads him on a spiral gainst gay marriage, while Charlie and Frank try to marry each other (to become “friends with benefits”) and Sweet Dee and Dennis try to rekindle flames from high school, triggering Dee’s gag reflex.

We are left with a cliffhanger, as well as a question – will Always Sunny be able to stay this funny? In previous seasons, episodes have been relatively hit or miss, and, while the hits certainly were worth their weight in laughs, we have to wonder if the Gang can keep the humor consistent.

Notably, a pregnant Dee was well hidden, but this was the first episode, and pictures have circulated of a later trimester that would have been hard to hide. In an interview with New York Magazine, Charlie Day said, “the best way to deal with it is to write it,” and so that’s what they did. This means we can look forward to the “Who done it?” episode, and how the gang will react to a pregnancy. They’ve already touched on gay marriage, and it should be interesting to see how they’ll handle fetuses.
