How I (Still Haven't) Met Your Mother
Although this new season of "How I Met Your Mother" was rumored to have the viewers finally meet the mother, the season 6 premiere still left us on the edge of our seats.
The beginning of the episode was set at a future wedding, with a quote from Ted saying, “Kids, there are two big days in any love story. The day you meet the girl of your dreams and the day you marry her.” This got me wondering the big question: was this Ted’s wedding?
Quickly, the show is brought back to present time at, of course, the bar. There Ted spots his ex-girlfriend Cindy (Rachel Bilson) with whom things ended badly, but as always, Ted romanticizes that Cindy’s roommate could be the perfect girl for him. And yet again, Ted assumes that this girl next to Cindy is the roommate he has been wanting to date—right until the two girls start kissing next to the bar (that's right folks, there's some girl-on-girl action to liven this season up). But still, no "Mother".
Even though Ted’s story didn’t progress much, it was exciting to see Marshall and Lily follow through with their plans of starting a family. However, Lily is bothered by Marshall telling everyone he knew that he was trying to get her pregnant—especially his father who always has his nose in their business. She does get over this fairly quickly, and she pulls Marshall into the apartment to put that baby in her belly. After all, it is a 30 minute episode.
And of course, at the end, we go back (or forward) to the scene of the wedding where it suddenly starts raining. Ted makes a comment about not bringing an umbrella, which cleverly ties into the mother, who is described in previous episodes as “the girl with the yellow umbrella.” Hopefully in the next episode, we will get to see exactly how Ted meets his future wife. And because the writers of "How I Met Your Mother" have had five long years to think about this moment, it better be worth the wait.
