Denver Nuggets' Anthony reacts in second quarter of Game 4 against Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City, Utah

There are serious discussions being conducted concerning Carmelo Anthony’s future and a possible four-way trade that would land him on the New Jersey Nets.

According to sources, the deal will involve the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Bobcats in addition to the Nets and the Denver Nuggets.

If the proposed deal occurs, the Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and a number of future first round draft picks would be traded to Denver in exchange for Anthony. The trade would also send Devin Harris to Charlotte and move Bobcats forward Boris Diaw to the Jazz.

The Nets will only go through with the deal, however, if Anthony signs a contract extension.

Anthony has the ability to become a free agent at the season’s close, which is why New Jersey is skeptical. The Nets are unwilling to sacrifice such strong players in a trade without a guarantee that Anthony will be there long term.

Anthony has made it clear to Denver that his two preferred destinations are New York and Chicago but New York lacks the resources to tempt Denver into a trade and Chicago continues to refuse to give up Joakim Noah.

The Nuggets offer of a three-year extension worth $65 million still stands for Anthony, but he has yet to take the deal.

This new trade could possibly bring about the solution to Anthony’s unclear future before the start of team practices. 

So the real question for Carmelo Anthony now is should I stay or should I go?
