In the fall of 2007, an unknown family to most appeared on cable with a reality show titled “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”

This wasn’t just another celebrity family with cameras following their everyday life. Something about them was unique and very entertaining- perhaps the dynamics of how they spoke to one another, maybe the unpredictable relationships between sisters, or possibly the amusement that came with every disagreement and future reconciliation.

Currently in its fifth season, the Kardashian family (Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob, Kendall and Kylie) and dad/husband Bruce Jenner are bigger than ever and deserve to be more than D-list celebrities.

The past five seasons have been filled with breakups, drama and scandal. Khloe was arrested for DUI, Kim broke up with Reggie Bush and Rob confessed he cheated on Cheetah Girls singer Adrienne Bailon. However, the most memorable moments have to include the Las Vegas trip for Kim’s birthday.

The season four episode featuring Kourtney’s boyfriend, Scott Disick and Rob fighting after too many drinks and the dinner that officially confirmed viewers’ opinions that Scott is a total loser was an hour that could not go by faster.

Another highlight of the series thus far was the wedding special. The two-hour event featured all the preparations for Khloe and Lamar Odom’s wedding including Bruce discovering his daughter was engaged on television news and later an emotional family toast that had women viewers crying across the country.

This season has begun with more of what we love. One segment was dedicated to the crazy relationship of Khloe and Lamar. Khloe had to teach 6 feet 10 inches tall Lamar how to swim. Another included Kourtney and Scott walking out of a dinner after Kris insulted their relationship once again.

The season isn’t even halfway over and we have yet to see Kim form a new relationship with NFL star Miles Austin and find out if Kourtney decides to leave her family and head to New York with Scott.

Today, it’s hard for any pop culture enthusiast to escape the presence of the Kardashians. Week after week, tabloids feature at least one of the sisters on their cover.

Kim has been pregnant too many times to count and each girl has been betrayed by enough men to fill a lecture hall. Readers are interested, believe it or not, in the crazy stories and are curious to know what is really happening in their lives.

Kim has the most followers than any other family member on twitter with more than 4.8 million people. Ratings are higher than ever with the season five premiere averaging 4.7 million viewers.

Each sister continues to develop projects independently and together on the side such as endorsement deals with GNC and clothing lines for bebe and QVC (QVC’s collection sold out in its first show).

Looking towards the future, this family isn’t disappearing from Hollywood anytime soon. Look at the stir that was caused when Justin Bieber tweeted a photo with Kim at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (yes, they were both invited). He jokingly wrote, “Look it’s my girlfriend.” Kim later received death threats from fellow Beliebers.

In addition, younger sister Kendall is following in her older sisters footsteps by modeling, this time for Forever 21.

A spin-off is being considered focusing on Khloe and Lamar’s married life.

Finally, the rumors continue to swirl that Scott is shopping around for a tell-all book about the family that reportedly includes the revelation that Khloe is not a Kardashian. Please Scott, save your time and energy.

This week, read those juicy tabloids, turn on E!, and get even more caught up with my favorite reality T.V. family- the Kardashians.
