Calif. State Sen. Roderick Wright Indicted For Falsifying Address
A California state senator is the ninth politican to receive charges from L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley of voter fraud, perjury and false declaration of candidacy. The eight previous officials are noted in the infographic below.
Democrat Roderick Wright allegedly ran for the state senate in 2007 while living outside of the district he now represents. On papers Wright filed to declare his candidacy, he listed a residence within the district that he didn't actually live in.
Wright represents several coastal cities in the middle of the L.A. region, including Hawthorne, Gardena, Compton and Inglewood.
He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment this morning. If convicted, he could serve up to eight years and four months in state prison.
