Brown V. Whitman: Today In The California Governor's Race, Sept. 29
Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman took part in their first debate Tuesday night at UC Davis, where they took turns attacking each other and defending their own platforms. Although both candidates agree that California’s government is hurting, their solutions to solving the problems are very different.
Whitman kept her calm demeanor during the debate, pushing her plan to bring down the unemployment rate and get Californian’s back to work. If elected, Whitman plans to create jobs, cut factory taxes, amend the welfare system and create an economic development team that will spark competition between California and other states.
Brown, on the other hand, slammed Whitman’s views by explaining tax breaks will mainly go to “billionaires such as Meg Whitman,” and that money will be taken from schools. He said one of his main concerns is the education budget deficit which he claimed “reflects the difference in [our] values.”
