Police are now offering a $50,000 reward for information about the death of a young man who was fatally shot during an after-prom party in Venice.

Michael McGuire, 21, was killed and another man was hurt in a drive-by shooting in the early morning hours of June 13. The two men were standing on a sidewalk around 2 a.m. when a dark-colored sport utility vehicle approached and a gunman began firing, authorities said.

Police said they still have no leads and no motive in the slaying, which led McGuire’s family to plead for the public’s help.

"If you have any type of information, please get ahold of the detectives here,'' Michael McGuire Sr. said at a news conference on June 30. "I just ... my son didn't deserve to go out like this.''

Anyone with information can call the LAPD at (310) 482-6370 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
