L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas will ask his colleagues on the Expo Line Board of Directors to consider hiring a full-time inspector general and ethics officer for the light rail construction authority.

"Both the large scale of the Exposition Metro Line and the varied composition of its Board of Directors require the oversight of a full-time Inspector General and Ethics Officer," says a motion by Ridley-Thomas posted to the Expo Authority website on Monday.

If the board approves his motion, a plan would be presented in October for creating the new position.

The authority currently relies on a contracted Metro employee for ethics compliance.

The board will consider the motion at its next meeting at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the County Hall of Administration.
