Sitting under the wine bottle ceiling of Los Angeles’ new wine and tapas bar Bacaro LA, is like escaping from the busy and loud restaurant style I’m familiar with.

Having traveled to Italy before I can say that eating and drinking at Bacaro reminds me a lot of going out in Montepulciano or some other small Italian town. The wine is incredibly rich tasting, with several options for whites, reds, rosés and sparkling written out across the chalkboard wall. 

The place feels very much like a home, as if I were just sitting with my friends in my dining room sipping wine and snacking on exotic cheeses. Decoration aside, the best part of Bacaro is the food. Bacaro is the type of place that makes you want to lounge around for three hours slowly eating your food and drinking your wine—which is why their serving sizes are perfect.

The tapas offered range from a make-your-own panini to artichoke bites to a lemon chicken breast. There really isn’t a single thing I tasted that I didn’t like. 

There are a plethora of dishes to try—the Dubliner cheese plate is presented with a soft, rich and creamy cheese and two different types of bread to enjoy it with. 

The Bacaro burger surprises you in its presentation—it is a soft and juicy burger platformed on top of one slice of thick toast and then covered in a creamy, slightly spicy sauce. It literally melts in your mouth, full of flavor, and you can choose any type of cheese to compliment it. 

The possibilities are endless, order a thin crust brie and bacon pizza to split with your friends and trade bites of your separate dish choices, or stay for a couple of hours and order two plates, there really are so many choices and trust me, this is the type of place you’ll want to come back to again—and again.
