After a tumultuous season of “The Bachelorette” that included betrayal, heartbreak and really bad extensions (seriously Ali, you weren’t fooling anyone with that weave), the final rose has been handed out to Roberto Martinez, a baseball player turned insurance salesman who salsa-ed his way into Ali’s heart.

In an excruciatingly cheesy finale episode complete with one too many montages and even a Photoshopped-to-death rainbow, Ali Fedotowsky handed out her final rose to Roberto, who got down on one knee and proposed to Ali (with a gorgeously blinged out ring –future fiancé, take note of how it looked) in a genuinely sweet moment. This came after Ali “broke the rules” and sent Chris home a day early after she realized she was in love with Roberto –scandalous!

While I have been a fan of Roberto from the beginning, I was actually surprised by Ali’s choice. Overall, I think she and Chris had more in common in terms of goals and values, whereas I see her relationship with Roberto as being based more on attraction than anything else. He does, however, seem like a really down-to-earth, good guy (confirmed by a friend of a friend of a friend, who supposedly used to date him for whatever that’s worth) that will treat Ali really well.

There was also speculation that Ali ended up choosing no one, probably because she was not allowed to be seen in public with Roberto until the finale aired. However, the two are very much together: Next up for the couple is a move to San Diego, and they are hoping to get married next summer. I wish them the best of luck, and if it doesn’t work out, Roberto, please call me!
