1. Voxhaul Broadcast and Chasing Kings @ The Hammer
Don't miss the last night of The Hammer's summer concert series, Also I Like To Rock. Get a jump start on your weekend Thursday night at this free show and enjoy the sounds of Voxhaul Broadcast and Chasing Kings. You can park under the museum for $3 after 6 p.m. If you feel like packing it in, hit up the galleries, they're open until 9 p.m.

2. Pasadena Film Fest
Enjoy the idea of Cinespia and other outdoor movies, but cringe at the admission? Try the Pasadena Film Fest for a change, where all the movie screenings are free. Take a look at the schedule here. Lose yourself in the academy-award winning "Death Becomes Her" Friday night, or laugh-out-loud at "Troop Beverly Hills" Saturday night.

3. Society of the Spectacle
Now that summer is here and the sun has decided to finally come out of hiding, your peepers are crying out for some stylish eye protection. Answer their pleas at this homey sunglasses boutique in Highland Park. The shop is stocked with one-of-a-kind and vintage frames that can even be fitted with a prescription. This store is so quaint you won't want to leave, but at least when you do, you know you won't spot someone else with the exact same pair.
Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

4. Pinback @ The El Ray
Check out San Diego indie rock band Pinback at The El Rey theatre this Saturday. Although it's a medium-sized venue, the sparkling chandeliers, cozy nooks and ability to get right up to the stage make it a great space to see a band you love. Located on Wilshire Boulevard, make it a night on the town and experience some of the great restaurants in the area before the show.
$21
All ages
Saturday, July 24, 8 p.m.

5. The Apple Pan
Opened in 1947, this classic diner has been packing in hungry Angelenos ever since. With just a few items on the menu (think hamburgers and apple pie), The Apple Pan prides itself on making them great. Take a seat at its original U-shaped counter the next time you're craving a classic American bite. With reasonable prices and a classic 1950s atmosphere, you can't go wrong. But it really is a jump back in time--they don't have AC and won't take your credit card. So bring cash, and go in the evening if it's hot out.
10801 W. Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles
11 a.m. - midnight weekdays, 11 a.m. - 1 a.m. weekends
