Neon Tommy was on the red carpet for the “Get Low” premiere Tuesday night at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills.

Reporters spoke with Oscar winner Robert Duvall, writers Chris Provenzano and Scott Seeke, director Aaron Schneider (USC alumni), who won an Oscar for best short live action film for 2003’s “Two Soldiers,” and actors Gerald McRaney and Bill Cobbs.

“Get Low” takes place in Tennessee in 1938 and is about a recluse, Felix Bush (Robert Duvall), who decides to throw himself a funeral party while he is still living to reconnect with the outside world. Felix hires funeral director Frank Quinn (Bill Murray) to arrange his “party.” The film also stars Sissey Spacek and Lucas Black.

The screenplay is based on a true story about a Tennessee hermit in 1938 who threw a similar party, but the difference is that the film version has a secret that Duvall’s character reveals to Spacek.

Watch “Get Low,” opening July 30. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 92 percent as of Tuesday night, and after speaking with a few of the actors in the film, it looks like it’ll be a fine one indeed.
