Beautiful fireworks lit up the sky in the San Fernando Valley Sunday night.

Families from all over the Los Angeles suburb came to Warner Center Park as early as 5 p.m. to get a good seat for the festivities.

Officials estimated that the patriotic crowd reached more than 50,000 people.

“This is the biggest turnout we’ve ever seen,” Valley Cultural Center representative Martha Jacobson said.

Live music as well as traditional July 4th food and souvenirs entertained the crowd.

As it came closer to 9 p.m. there was not an empty seat left in the park or on the streets surrounding it.

As the fireworks lit up the night sky, people cheered and clapped. At the end of the 20-minute show a giant crowd of spectators made the walk back to their cars.

“Happy Birthday America! We will be back next year to celebrate our favorite holiday,” Jim Salin said as his family packed up their picnic gear and headed home.
