If you have grown up with the Harry Potter series as I have, you will surely know that the series’ conclusion is rapidly approaching.

With the release of the first part of “Deathly Hallows” in November, the world begins its journey to the end of an era and starts to say its farewells to a series that has touched the hearts of many, including myself, through the stories of a young boy named Harry Potter.

Letting Go Is Never Easy-

The number one reason to be excited for this movie is because it marks the end of, for me at least, a chapter of our lives. The tagline on the posters says it all, “It All Ends Here” and isn’t that the truth. We all know how the book ends and we can be excited to see the Gringrott’s break-in or the Malfoy Manor escape, but what this movie really is is a goodbye: a farewell to Harry and his journey into our hearts, a farewell to a series that has changed literature for years to come. These two movies may be the end of Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, but this is not the end of the people this series will continue to touch. Be excited, but be wary--a tearful goodbye is a true goodbye.

The Boys Are Back In Town-

One thing you can count on in a series like this is that the reunion will be phenomenal—years after wondering if the trio would renew their contracts after “Prisoner of Azkaban,” the question of returning cast members rose again with “Deathly Hallows.” In Book 7, almost every character in the series returns, and it was revealed that almost every actor is also  returning. This book brings together all the characters in tear-jerking scenes---everyone from Percy Weasley to Viktor Krum to Dobby has come back for the finale.

Til Death Do Us Part-

Everybody loves a fight scene, and I got chills even watching the ones in the trailer for this film. Not only does it open with Harry turning himself in to Lord Voldemort, but there are flashes of hundreds of people rushing into the Hogwarts battlefield, cuts of the trio escaping on the Gringott’s dragon and even a close up of a Harry-Voldemort stare down. How can you not be excited when two of the most notorious arch nemeses are guaranteed to have a smack down on screen? This book has death, it has heartbreak but it also has shock value--there will be duels, fighting and tears--and if you’re into the 3-D craze you can experience it all in IMAX 3-D.

Double The Trouble-

Director David Yates decided to split the final book into two separate films, released 8 months apart. While this means that fans and viewers will have to wait half a year for the conclusion, it also gives everyone a little longer to hold onto Harry. The truth is the films have never lived up to the genius of the books--and it’s hard to blame anyone for it. How do you fit hundreds of pages cleanly into a 2-hour movie? You don’t. And that’s exactly why splitting this book was the best decision possible. This means that very little can be omitted or changed--giving true fans what they have been waiting for since day one: a literal display of J.K. Rowling’s artistry.

I'll Never Grow Up-

When I say I grew up with Harry Potter I do not mean this figuratively at all--I was 11-years-old when the first movie was released and 17 when the seventh book hit the shelves. But even if you haven’t had this chronological connection with the series you can still attest to its ability to bring in readers and viewers of all ages. With so many stories of disaster and mistrust how can you not enjoy a franchise that allows you to sit back and believe in magic again--if only for a few hours. Whether you are 13, 27 or 50, this movie is worth watching if not for its consuming storyline and ultimate showdown, then for its ever-growing prominence in pop culture.
