Well, sort of.

After many e-mails and phone calls Jerry Brown's office finally e-mailed me back.

Last week, I received two e-mails from info@jerrybrown.org. Thrilled at the prospect of receiving answers to Neon Tommy's questions, I opened them immediately. But alas my hopes were crushed.

It was an e-mail soliciting money for Jerry Brown's campaign and trashing Meg Whitman.

After glancing at the e-mail, two questions popped into my mind: How was I so lucky to get on Jerry's mailing list? And why on earth would they think I would give him money after Neon Tommy's encounters with his staffers?

While I cannot pretend to know how Jerry's campaign office works, I now know they got at least one of my e-mails (even though none of them asked to be added to a mailing list). But this leads me to another question. Should I unsubscribe from the mailing list?

Take a look at a copy of the e-mail below and let me know what you think.

Jessika,

Check out this picture. It's a listing of Meg Whitman's multi-million dollar donations -- $91 million in total -- not exactly an image of a healthy democracy.  And while Meg Whitman declined our offer to have a series of joint town-halls across the state and skip the negative TV ad blitz, she instead dropped $20 million more of her wealth into the race. We expect her to do the same each month until the election in November.

Our filing looks a bit different. Thousands of individual donors across California are coming together to reclaim our government and get California working again.

Will you add your name to our filing? Last week we asked if you'd pledge to donate $20 a month to keep pace with Meg's $20 million checks. Hundreds of you responded, flexing our grassroots muscle. If you haven't yet, can you pledge to match Meg?

In the Republican primary, Meg Whitman flooded the airwaves and effectively bought the election. That's not going to work against Jerry. Californians want an honest discussion about the issues. They want a leader who will bring us together, who has the experience to guide us through our crisis, who will bring some innovation, humility, and honesty to our government. Californians don't want a leader selected because of personal wealth and a scripted campaign.

The contrast between Jerry and Meg Whitman is clear: Jerry is a leader with experience and vision, poised to make tough choices and bring people together versus a rookie who wants to play the same political games that got us into this mess. If she can't change the tone of politics in the election, how does she expect to do it as Governor.

Please join our grassroots fundraising team and pledge to match Meg -- as little as $20 per month. Will you join us?
