Bob Baker fell in love with puppets as a child. His fascination led him to co-found the Bob Baker Marionette Theater

"[We] opened our theater 50 years ago to show what could be done with puppets," said Baker, now 86.

To commemorate the anniversary, the theater has increased its usual number of productions per year from three to five, currently featuring the show "It's a Musical World."

But the anniversary is bittersweet.

The theater, the longest running children's theater in Los Angeles, fights poor ticket sales and has struggled financially since a former business partner nearly ran the theater into bankruptcy almost 18 years ago.

"It seems like it's ten times as much trouble to put it back together again or even where it was. So we've been trying to keep going on in the last years."

Through all of the money troubles Baker still manages to smile and remain positive. And his productions continue to make children of all ages laugh, transporting them to magical world where anything is possible.
