FOOTBALL: "Playing over the top" as a safety is playing zone coverage. It's called Man-2.
Also, in small defense of the linebackers (even though they have been bad, especially at shedding blockers), the entire corp has been beat up.
I think the offensive playcalling needs to be examined as well. When Joe McKnight runs for nearly 150 yards on only 16 carries, why not give him the ball another 10 times (especially with Allen Bradford injured)? The pick-six Barkley threw was on a 3rd-and-2. Give the ball to McKnight or is 8.9 yards per carry not good enough?
BASKETBALL: I disagree. I think Kevin O'Neill will succeed here. He previously was set to take over at Arizona before Lute Olsen's Alzheimer's flared up and he forgot that he was retiring. O'Neill has also already put together a top recruiting class to come in next season.
This season will likely be rough, but in the long run, I think he will be able to turn USC into a consistent Pac-10 contender with UCLA and Arizona.
VOLLEYBALL: Great insight. Didn't get to see last weekend's games, but sounds like they finally cut down on the unforced errors, which is something that has killed them off and on throughout the season. Maybe they can make a run if they can show some consistency.
Thank Jesus that someone over at USC is willing to talk truth. Go Bruins! (Nice show, guys).
What happened to Pete Carroll's Trojans? They're dead.
