Recent Homeless Count Sparks Outrage, Confusion

LISTEN:The Department of Housing and Urban Development requires L.A. County to count its homeless population every two years. Well the numbers are in, and it seems homelessness is way down. But that has come as a shock to homeless activists who have seen increased demand for their services during the recession. The report has left services providers confused, some outraged. Now many of them are saying the new homeless count just does not add up. Annenberg Radio News' Timothy Beck Werth has more.
Suzanne Wenzel is a senior scientist with the Rand Corporation and a professor at the USC School of Social Work. Wenzel gives Werth her take on what's really going on with the county's homeless population.
