Venice Boulevard between National and La Cienega boulevards is blocked off as police officers with dogs and helicopters search for possible gang suspects of a shooting that occurred early Friday evening.

An innocent bystander, a woman in her 40s, was shot in the hip. The injury is non-life-threatening.
Officer Jason Lee with the Los Angeles Police Department said the department is conducting a "lengthy investigation" into the shooting.
"Either we catch them or we make sure they aren't in that
general area," Lee said.

Dozens of officers responded to the scene, including at least 20 motorcycle officers stationed at the corner of Venice and Helms avenues.

Mark,
Such a large law enforcement team response probably means there's more to the shooting than a possible gang incident. Thanks for covering.
